Persons cut off by tide
After a busy Sunday morning training the crew were paged for the third time at 6.30pm to reports of persons stuck on the cliff between Aberystwyth and Borth.
Both lifeboats from Aberystwyth were launched and started searching the coastline for the teenagers. The RNLI lifeboat from Borth also searched towards Clarach. The casualties were soon located by the lifeboat crews approximately 70 feet up the cliff. They appeared to have been cut off by the tide and attempted to climb out.
The lifeboat crews remained on scene at the bottom of the cliffs in case the casualties fell. They also guided in the Coastguard cliff rescue team and rescue helicopter 122 from RAF Valley who were able to winch both casualties off the cliff. The casualties were taken to the fields at the top of the cliffs safe and well after their ordeal.
