Tow of Large vessel

Whilst on exercise with an assesor aboard, the lifeboat was tasked to make full speed to a motor sailer 15 nautical Miles of their position because the vessel had suffered engine problems and was putting out a lot of smoke or steam and there was concern that the boat could be at risk of fire.

The lifeboat soon arrived on scene to discover the boat was not at risk of fire, and everyone was safe. The vessel unable to start was taken under tow towards Aberystwyth. At 28ft the lifeboat made a comfortable speed of 7 knots on its trip back to the harbour.

New Quay all weather lifeboat was also tasked at the same time, and arrived on scene whilst the casualty was under tow. They took over the tow and took the casualty back to the harbour freeing up Aberystwyth lifeboat to return to station.
